Mission Beach & Mission Bay Parks
Mission Beach Parks have something to offer everyone. On the North Mission Beach you can swing by Belmont Park and ride the historic Giant Dipper roller coster, interesting shops, bars and eateries. If you're looking for activities you can go for a walk on the boardwalk, rent a set of roller blades or just sit in the sand and people watch.
Just south of Belmont Park is Mission Beach Park, a small area (just south of the parking lot), where you cantake a load off. On one side is the ocean and beach the other is Bonita Cove, famous for sailing. At the south end of Mission Beach you will find fishermen and a more quite and relaxed environment.
San Diego Skyline (from Point Loma)
Point Loma
San Diego features many parks and recreational areas. Here is a look at the San Diego skyline from Point Loma (about 5-10 minutes from Mission Beach).
If you head south from Mission Beach you can take in the view from Ocean Beach and Point Loma and relax in one of the many recreational areas available to San Diegans.
San Diego's Balboa Park
Balboa Park
Located a mere 10-15 minutes (depending on traffic) from Mission Beach, Balboa Park is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich parks in all of the US. Featuring gardens, museums, parks, wildlife preservations and much more, Balboa Park is a must see during your next trip to San Diego.
The San Diego Zoo borders the park, and is basically part of the Balboa Park experience.
Perhaps the best time to visit Balboa Park is Sunday, when you can sit in an outdoor auditorium and listen while talented guests play the largest outdoor organ in the world.
