Beach Photos from Mission Beach & Pacific Beach
Check out photos from The 2003 Fourth of July in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach San Diego...the hottest beach spot in Southern California!
The Fourth of July in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach California is one of the best places in the world to spend this holiday.
This is an example of some of the fun with a wet-t-shirt contest that highlighted the afternoon festivities.
That is coming up, but like last year, let's start the day off early and check and see what is and was going on.
We put this picture up front so you would stay on the page and not leave knowing what is coming up on our 3 power-packed pages of photo coverage from the Fourth of July in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach in 2003.
The day started off at about 7:30AM and I met up with Maruta Gardner and her local anti graffiti campaign bike and graffiti supplies.
Maruta goes out every weekend and immediately wipes of graffiti and stickers that go up in the Mission Beach and Pacific Beach areas. Here she checks out a matching paint to cover some gaffiti. "My bike also has a ladder", she says as she points out a step that fits over the back basket which allows her to stand up and reach hard to reach spots.
If you have any paint you would like to donate or to help her out, just email her at
Maruta's email link.
What a flashback, it was one year ago that I had a crummy web cam and was taking pictures for this web site and had the same friend with me eating muffins and saying hello. It is nice that some things do not change like my little home at the
Mission 2 Cafe in Pacific Beach which is dog friendly and right on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach. This is the best place to start off the weekend or the morning.
The exact same people were all their dressed the same, almost like a weird chapter from Alice in Wonderland. It was exactly what was going on at this time one year before.
In the early hours you can see how you set up a party in California. Just take everything out of the living room and put it out on the sand for a great party.
Next just buy those little wading pools and convert it into something which will hold at least 10-15 cases of beer. Start with ice and enter the refreshments later.
Of course we had to take a picture of the very cool Jones Soda RV and Party Bus.
Just another example of a local and cool trend setting company that is loaded with Southern California entreprenuers and doing well.
A beautiful picture ofthe area north of Crystal Pier looking down at the beach before the majority of party goes showed up. Just getting there early was essential to secure some space and find parking.
It was by far the most crowded anyone had ever seen the beach. My photos last year at 7:30 Am showed a lot almost full, but by Thursady afternoon all lots were full and did not empty until July 5th, 2 days later.
a look at some of the party areas being prepared for the Fourth of July festivities.
Maruta's bike about 2 hours later and 4 miles down the boardwlk, still going strong.
Help stamp out graffiti and dinate some paint or help. Email her at

The traditional USA Veterans tent on the corner of Hornblend and Pacific Beach ocean front walk.
A look at the beach around 11:30 AM just before the drinking starts and the crowds arrive.
Just inflate the pool and throw all the furniture on the beach to hold your area until the party goers arrive. Here these guys relax in the pool after getting the set up of their area done. Pure Mission Beach California Fourth celebration.
