* 2005 A Day with Karris in South Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a small beach community in San Diego that is home to some of the best beach areas in Southern California. The beach itself is nothing more than a 31/2 mile strip of beach with the Pacific Ocean on one side and beautiful Mission Bay on the other with over 4,000 acres of parks and water.

In 1914 plans were drawn up to make Mission Beach a master resort and attraction destination for tourists and visitors coming in from outside the area.

Soon the area began to turn from a "tent city" to a prized local San Diego destination.

In 1925 Belmont Park (Then known as the Mission Beach Amusement Center) and The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster were constructed making this the new showcase beach area for San Diego.

This year is the 80th anniversary of Belmont Park and The Giant Dipper Roller Coaster.

South Mission Beach is the widest spot of the beach with great surf breaks, volleyball courts, parks and of course beautiful women.
